A Shed for all Seasons

Our little "hankersniff" of lawn and garden needed a shed.  The Home Depot put us in touch with Tuff Sheds, and on July 11 of this year, a father-and-sons team of builders pulled up with the makings of two prefab sheds on a trailer. One for us, the other for a family in another town. Here, you see the far corner of the lot, cleared of wood pile, weeds, and general cultch.  And the first few pieces of our shed, laid out in order. (What's hiding under that blue tarp? you say. What blue tarp?)

Next slide:

Next slide:  Parts are about ready, under the watchful eye of the proprietor.

Not quite! Here come the stones for the foundation.

Getting ready for a firm foundation.

A wire to the house ran the power equipment, a nailer. What you don't see is the first connection, which caused a small explosion.

Laying floor joists.

Fastening same. Note the all-important level.

On with the floor.

Floor confab. First wall ready to be raised.

Two walls up.

Pediment up.

Just checking . . .

Roofing begins.

Precarious footing?  All in a half-day's work.

There'll be no leaks in this roof!

Skylight goes in.  Suave.

Roofing plus door.

The second coat of paint is added on-site.

Last touches.

Complete, in 4 hours. That is, complete as Tuff Sheds was concerned. They don't do ramps. So . . .

Roy worked out a design, made a trip to Brill Lumber, and set to work.

Hmmmmm . . . not quite straight . . . not quite as stylish as he anticipated.  So . . .
Thinking it through some more.

Here is the joint project, finished.  Straight and true shed, straight and true ramp.  From this angle, on our 2nd floor deck, we realized the red and white shed could double as a chapel.  :-)
